Transmission Rebuild

A rebuilt transmission is one where the transmission is disassembled and inspected, worn or damaged parts are replaced and then reassembled to factory specifications. It is a custom process performed by a specialist.

To rebuild a transmission, a technician will remove it from the vehicle, take it apart and inspect all of the key components. Any parts that are still inside the manufacturer's acceptable wear limits are reused, and anything that's too worn will be replaced.

All of the “soft parts” like gaskets, seals, bands, and o-rings are replaced. And finally, the whole thing is put back together and reinstalled in the car.

Rebuilt vs. Remanufactured Transmissions

Remanufacturing a transmission involves completely restoring a transmission back to factory standards in a factory assembly line setting – making it as close to new as possible, creating and machining all new parts. The remanufactured transmission is then thoroughly tested before packing and shipping it directly to us to be installed in your vehicle.

In a rebuilt transmission, our expert team will thoroughly clean and inspect all of the parts before they are placed back into your transmission. If your parts are worn, they are replaced with quality parts. Once reassembled the transmission is installed back into your vehicle and road tested before it's delivered back to you.

The three major differences between a rebuilt and remanufactured transmission are time, money and warranty.

Time & Money

A rebuilt transmission can take anywhere from 3-5 days. Also, we can't exactly quote your repair. We can obviously give you an estimate, but we won't know the exact cost until we begin the process and see what needs to be replaced inside your transmission. It will typically be less than a remanufactured transmission, but it also depends on the repair to your transmission.

Our Certified Transmission Remanufactured Transmissions, you'll know the exact price because the transmission has already been repaired. However, this also means that they are typically more expensive than a rebuilt transmission. You will also have the added cost of labor added to your price.
